The Hidden Water in Everyday Products

Two  everyday materials – plastic and cotton – are water intensive.  It takes just under 24 gallons of water to make 1 pound of plastic. In fact, it takes at least twice as much water to produce a plastic water bottle as the amount of water the bottle holds. And the water footprint of 1pound of cotton fabric is 1,320 gallons. That’s more than 700 gallons of water for one new cotton shirt.

Learn more about the hidden water in everyday products and what you can do to help conserve water!
